March 1 Sisterlocks (OR any locks OR considering locks!) Gathering

Since we had such a marvelous time at the last Sisterlocks Gathering in December we said we were going to try to make it a quarterly event - and believe it or not it's that time again! Three months have gone by just like that!

This time we are meeting at O'Charley's: 6 p.m., Saturday March 1, 2008. The address is 1920 Sardis Road North. Follow the hyperlink to a page that provides a map and directions.

This event is open: anyone in the area is welcome to attend. Feel free to pass it on by word of mouth or links to my blog, but please RSVP to me or Black Russian by or before Monday, February 25, so that we can have an accurate count for reservations.

Can't wait to see you there!!

Mel, unfortunately I didn't make the latest gathering. :-( I'm going to have to check BlackRussian's and/or beaut1ful1's blog for pics.
MeJerry ... my SL consultant here in Charlotte is Rena (pronounced just like "Renee") Walker - (704) 996-2696.

I have a question for you. When you took the retightening class, what came with that? What tools did you receive with that? I ask because I was going to take the class in June, but might reconsider if I'll only receive the clip tool.

Thanks,
Amina

Love your hair!! Are there plans for any new sisterlock gatherings in the Charlotte area? I would love to attend. I signed up for the retightening class taking place on October 4th. My sisterlocks are almost 2 years old now. Once I master this whole blogging thing I would love to share pics of my journey. I even think we had the same consulant Rene. Please email me or update your blog. Be blessed!!

Hello,
I've enjoyed reading your blog. I was especially interested in your blog b/c you started with a substantial amount of permed hair. This is my issue as well. I have about 7 inches or so of permed hair. Currenly, I'm wearing two strand twists with extensions. I'll do this for about 3-6 months. When I get enough new growth, I want to start my sisterlocs keeping my ends. Please share details of how you maintained the permed hair once your sisterlocs were installed. Who is your consultant and where is she located? I'm interesting in her b/c you mentioned that she put the permed hair in the same pattern as your natural roots. I think (as you stated) that this will help with maintaining the two textures. As you did, I plan to gradually cut off the permed ends as I get more new growth. I am just not comfortable with the Sisterlocs with a shorter hair length. Any tips that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'm in Georgia (about 3 hours from Charlotte) but will not mind the drive to have a consultant experienced in installations with permed hair. Check out my blogspot and let me know your thoughts.
